Pollica and the fisher-mayor

Atlas of Beauty /
Event, Territorial Development
A living memory. Angelo Vassallo was a fisherman from Pollica, in Cilento, who became mayor out of love for his land. His love of nature and the sea convinced him to work for a territory where men and the environment could coexist in harmony. His battle against illegal building has allowed Pollica to live its own season of rebirth today. Today it is the recognised capital of the Mediterranean Diet and leads research in this field, and has become an international destination for scholars and scientists. The sea museum, the festival of hope, the blue flags repeatedly earned in the Lega Ambiente and Touring Club rankings, make it a privileged place for quality tourism. A place where economic development grows within the rules of sustainability, creating the conditions for future generations to have one more chance to live in the place where they were born.
