The Museo del Presente Giovanni Falcone Paolo Borsellino has been awarded the Economic Prize 2025

The Falcone Foundation has been committed to promoting the values of legality and justice for over 30 years. President Maria Falcone, sister of the magistrate killed by the Mafia in 1992, and professor of law in high schools, has dedicated her life to the affirmation of anti-mafia values in society and particularly among young people.

The Falcone Foundation conceived, produced and realised the first museum project in Europe dedicated to the present. The Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino Museum of the Present will be inaugurated in Palermo on 23 May 2025 and will be a new place to reflect and dwell, aimed at the new generations, the business community and companies. The intention is to create a museum that will continue to spread the memory and culture of legality. A physical and social space where design, art, photography and architecture are put at the service of the community and transform memory into energy to change the present.

The museum nurtures the conviction that the present time is the one in which to experience the most unexpected encounters between the various fields of knowledge and research, education, the arts and the design industry in order to render a service in favour of the widespread development of critical thinking that is as functional as possible to concrete progress free of mafias.

At the site of Palermo's Museum of the Present, Palazzo Jung, there are also plans to redevelop the former caretaker's house with the aim of creating “The Children's House”, a multifunctional space where workshops and exhibitions for children can be held, open to schools and the community.

The project envisages the possibility of enlivening the museum in several locations: Palermo, Rome, Bressanone and Malta are the first ones, in order to create a new geography of spaces in Italy and abroad at the service of culture. These innovative spaces involve important partners such as the government of the United States of America, which was the first to choose the Museo del Presente in Palermo to open the most important American Space in Southern Europe.
