Post Disaster Rooftops
Post Disaster Rooftops is one of the two in kind prize winners, promoted by RobilantAssociati. It is a series of collective performances that, starting from an idea of disaster - ‘misalignment from the stars’ - try to imagine a possible alternative future.
The project, a curatorial and critical platform that brings together designers, thinkers and artists to investigate the condition of the Mediterranean urban scenario, is set on the rooftops of Taranto, a city that symbolises the disparities and contradictions of the contemporary urban condition. The context in which they work is the island of the Old City, separated from the rest of the city both physically and culturally.
On the rooftops, places that elude most normative definitions of urban space, they have a freedom of action and speculation that allows them to imagine alternative futures through continuous shifts between the real and the possible. Is disaster in the making or has it already happened?
