EssilorLuxottica Special Award: Pistoia Musei

EssilorLuxottica has been supporting the Fondazione Italia Patria della Bellezza since 2022 by providing a visibility prize. EssilorLuxottica selects and promotes the most virtuous projects, creating an ad hoc campaign on the group's big screens.

EssilorLuxottica within the 2025 call for proposals has rewarded Pistoia Musei, the new archaeological area of the museum in the ancient Palazzo dei Vescovi of Fondazione Pistoia Musei.

The Autumn of 2025 will see the completion of the second phase of the journey towards the complete reopening of the Museo dell'Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi, a historic exhibition venue undergoing a process of profound transformation.

With the inauguration of the new archaeological area, more precisely, the phase of work that focused on the conservative restoration of the structures and excavations, with a rethinking of the exhibition itinerary, will be completed.

The focus of the new layout of the archaeological area will be an innovative multimedia project designed to make the visit compelling by exploiting the integrated use of technological tools and an experiential approach.

The Antico Palazzo dei Vescovi is one of the most important buildings in the city and one of the headquarters of Fondazione Pistoia Musei, which exhibits medieval and modern art collections. The reopening of the archaeological area to the public envisages the construction of a new visit itinerary that will be accompanied by Pistoia Moving Stories, a multimedia project of innovative narration that exploits the potential of the integrated use of technological tools according to an experiential, multidimensional and engaging approach.

The multimedia project will offer in-depth content inside the museum on personal devices offline and online outside the building.

The new archaeological route will also provide an opportunity to rethink visitor engagement strategies through a programme of activities dedicated to promoting knowledge of the ancient history of Pistoia and its territory with events and activities for families, guided tours, workshops for schools, and workshops for young people and adults.
