The MU-CH | Museo della Chimica
In Settimo Torinese, within the renovated spaces of the former SIVA paint factory where Primo Levi worked for over twenty years, the MU-CH | Museo della Chimica brings science to life through hands-on experiences. Opened in 2022, it is an immersive museum dedicated to chemistry and STEAM, where play, technology, and experimentation serve as tools for exploring often complex scientific phenomena.
The exhibition journey invites visitors to touch, observe, and experiment through large interactive exhibits, workshops, and activities designed for diverse audiences. It begins with the stars—where chemical elements originate—and progresses to matter, its transformations, and the relationship between chemistry, the environment, and daily life. The journey concludes at the Chemistry Bar, one of the museum’s most distinctive features.
MU-CH is also a place where the region’s industrial heritage meets contemporary science communication. Alongside the history of SIVA and Primo Levi, the museum places special emphasis on accessibility: tactile maps, Braille panels, inclusive graphic design, and sensory experiences expand opportunities for participation.
The museum thus transforms chemistry from a subject to be studied into an experience to be lived firsthand: a space where curiosity, creativity, and knowledge converge, restoring to the city a place that reflects its industrial history and opening it up to new forms of discovery.
