Palazzo della Meridiana
In Genoa, amid the architecture of the Palazzi dei Rolli, stands a residence that has watched the city change for centuries. It is Palazzo della Meridiana, built in the 16th century and now a meeting place for art, history, and contemporary culture. Frescoes, decorations, and rooms from different eras tell the story of the building’s long history, while its halls continue to host exhibitions and events, keeping alive the dialogue between historical heritage and the present.
The Associazione Amici di Palazzo della Meridiana is responsible for its upkeep; throughout the year, the association organizes a program of exhibitions, conferences, concerts, book presentations, workshops, and guided tours centered around the residence. Even exploring the Palazzo can become a theatrical experience: actors and extras bring the characters who once lived there back to life, weaving the private stories of its inhabitants into the history of Genoa.
But the beauty of the Meridiana extends beyond its halls. The Palazzo is also a place of education and engagement, open to collaboration with universities and schools and to educational programs designed to introduce diverse audiences to art and history. Its activities also include initiatives dedicated to the inclusion and employment of young people with disabilities. A historic residence that, rather than remaining frozen in time, finds in its very capacity to be inhabited and shared the most authentic way to continue telling the city’s story.
