Cities, come together

Citizens and cultural realities come together, increase and bring back culture to their area.

Today, cities continue to grow, yet we are losing the human dimension that once characterised squares, markets and neighbourhoods.
Urban growth no longer brings relationships; on the contrary, it often produces a sense of loss of community. In this social context, we increasingly need individuals, neighbourhoods, projects and even cities that go against the current in order to create shared spaces open to all and increase individual and collective well-being.

The starting point is to return to the public a place of historical-artistic value and great significance in the past and recent history of the city to make it a space for meeting, reception, recreation, culture, work, emancipation and growth for all.

Divago is an urban art festival conceived by the Mixta collective and realised by the Cultural Association ETS Wanda. It takes place every two years in the urban space of Genoa's old Jewish ghetto, at the centre of which is the famous Via del Campo.

It realises participatory art projects in dialogue with local communities and young contemporary artists, and promotes meetings and public lectures on socio-cultural issues. It aims to bring a new creative ferment to Genoa and involve the city's young people.

The selected artists come in ‘residency’ to get to know the communities living in the area, in order to create shared and participatory artworks with the citizens.
