Hypermaremma
Hypermaremma is an art event created to promote contemporary art within the Maremma territory. Born in 2019 from an idea by Carlo Pratis, Giorgio Galotti - both gallery owners - and Matteo d'Ajola - art collector - the event aims to trigger a new fruition of the Maremma territory through the contemporary contingency of hyperactivity, a mode that characterises our days and the new artistic generations, deliberately short-circuiting an area of excellence that has always made of its dilated times and the slow living of its beauties its main characteristic. By inviting Italian and international artists, Hypermaremma succeeded in reactivating the Maremma area through works of art and installations that triggered a reinterpretation of the landscape and atmosphere typical of the Maremma.
During the pandemic, the event managed to reinvent itself by using open public spaces to create the site-specific installation “Spazio Amato” by Italian artist Massimo Uberti, which became the most viewed exhibition in Italy in 2020.
The 2021 edition reconfirmed this important collaboration between art, the event and the territory by inviting the public to visit works in places such as the vineyards of Scansano, the bay of Talamone, the Lagoon of Orbetello, the WWF Oasis of Burano and other exceptional locations. Artists such as Mario Airò, Massimo Uberti, Moira Ricci, Mandalaki, Emiliano Maggi, Michela de Mattei, Gaia De Megni, Salò and Marco Emmanuele created site-specific works, which can be visited free of charge, offering a new vision of the region's traditional places.
For the 2022 edition, which opened on the 16 April, various installations, works and performances were planned to accompany the event until 30 September. Inaugurating the fourth edition will be Giuseppe Gallo, with his sculptural work ‘I giocolieri dell'armonia’ (The Jugglers of Harmony) located on the dunes of the Tagliata di Ansedonia shoreline, and artist Rachel Monosov's performance ‘Impossible meeting point’, which will take place in an uncontaminated area of the lagoon, on the Ansedonia side, where the water meets the land surface.
Hypermaremma participated in our Foundation's 2022 call for tenders and was then adopted by the agency Strategic Footprint, which is one of our communication sponsors.
