"One school, One job" Human Spirit award
Every year, since 2011, Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte has selected the best new graduates in the high craftsmanship sector to offer them a free 150-hour Mini Master's course in collaboration with prestigious Milanese universities, and a 6-month paid training course to specialise alongside an expert craftsman.
In recent years, the Foundation has placed about 300 young people in workshops, to promote a generational change in the artistic handicraft sector: many of them have then found their professional fulfilment, remaining in the host companies or opening their own at the end of their training.
Although the project had reached its tenth year, it did not yet have its own visual identity. "One School, One Job" participated in our Foundation's call for entries and won the special prize “Human Spirit” 2022, supported by Gruppo Montenegro. The aim from the outset was to fill this gap and also support the project with targeted communication, through the creation of a new logo and visual language.
Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte is a private, non-profit institution, founded in Milan in 1995 by Franco Cologni, today its President. It promotes a series of cultural, scientific and popular initiatives for the protection and dissemination of art professions, aimed at both young people and adults.
For the project ‘Una scuola, un Lavoro’ (A School, a Job), forces were concentrated on the creation of a completely new logo, graphic universe and branding, able to reflect the values and true essence of the project. In addition, thanks to the financial contribution of Gruppo Montenegro the unascuolaunlavoro.it site was completely renovated.
The communication chosen is simple, clear and linear, with easily identifiable colour details, the visual language dynamic, for a project that is aimed at young people and has finally found the right register for them. The logo created with the support of the award, with the three parallel lines running and overlapping, almost knotting together, refers to traces, paths, sometimes labyrinthine roads, but which speak of orientation and the search for one's path, one of the fundamental aspects of the project.
In addition, with the redesign of the site, the images that tell the stories of each apprenticeship have been enhanced, giving due prominence to the work of all the project's protagonists: trainees, masters and workshops, whose daily availability makes its successful results possible. A special page has also been created in the new portal, to collect more easily applications for young artisans from the Schools of Arts and Crafts throughout Italy, so that the project can continue to feed on the recommendations of new talents.
