The Rivoluzione delle Seppie: Crossings 2022
The Rivoluzione delle Seppie (Cuttlefish Revolution) is a hyper-collective that aims to reactivate areas defined as marginal, and in particular the village of Belmonte Calabro, by experimenting with new models of living and working, using a relational approach involving the local population and new inhabitants arriving from different parts of the world, students and digital nomads in co-living and co-working, for a plural, multi-ethnic and international community.

Questioning and searching for new solutions for living together and shared living, collaborative ways of working and studying with a practical and tangible approach, new ways of narrating the territory.
The main need was to create a conversation space on the dichotomy between the now inflated concept of a village and the more stable and ‘tangible’ concept of a town.

The ‘Crossings 2022’ project, funded by the Fondazione Italia Patria della Bellezza, was a research week organised by the hyper-collective The Rivoluzione delle Seppie focused on meetings, workshops, talks, moments of conviviality and sharing between international students, professionals, researchers, tourists, the curious and locals.
Among the guests at the event was CHEAP, the Bologna-based public art project, which moved outside the urban context in which it usually operates, working on a participatory workshop within which it designed and realised its public art intervention on posters.
Also a guest at the event was Claudio Morelli, who led the creation of the editorial project ‘La Seppia News’ to tell the story of the territory in a different way. The media thus becomes a beach towel, a summer issue, based on the infotainment model, which combines useful information about the territory and journalistic style with the story of the reality of the territory, supported by an instagram page where you can continue to enjoy the content.
Finally, thanks to the funding, a series of large posters were produced and placed along the streets that run along the village of Belmonte, in the streets that lead from the village to the marina, along the façades of some of the houses, insisting precisely on a vision that does not set the village against the city but sees these two ‘differently public’ spaces in connection, it is a vision of community that allows for a return, a dialectic between the urban space and the space of the village.
