Fiato ai Libri
There are books that are read in silence and others that, for one evening, come to life and take the stage. This is the idea behind Fiato ai Libri, the theater-reading festival founded in the Bergamo area to bring diverse audiences closer to literature through the voices and performances of professional actors and readers. Since 2005, the festival has brought classics and contemporary works off the page, transforming reading into a shared experience.
The festival is organized through close collaboration with local libraries and municipalities, which serve as the venues where the performances take shape. Over time, a devoted community of artists and audience members has grown around Fiato ai Libri, united by the sense of familiarity that comes from gathering, year after year, around stories. Alongside the performances, there are also events and initiatives aimed at younger audiences, such as Fiato ai Libri Junior, so that the joy of reading can reach different generations and sensibilities.
The festival’s strength also lies in its refusal to treat culture as something distant. A recognizable image, a playful approach to communication, social media, and even a beer dedicated to the festival have helped, over the years, to create a lively and welcoming atmosphere capable of attracting even those who don’t normally attend literary events. In this way, books become an opportunity for connection, the theater a way to discover them, and libraries vibrant spaces where culture is shared, listened to, and takes shape together.
