The Uffizi flag-wavers

Atlas of Beauty /
Event, Institution
A story of bravery and flags. A work and an art that has the task of recalling, through the forms of play, the coats of arms and civic traditions of the City of Florence as they were in the 16th century. In this playful activity of costumes and flags, an art that harks back to the signalmen of ancient armies and the jugglers of the jousts, there is the intent to recall the history of the institutions that inspired the organisations of modern states, the path our ancestors took, always raising the level of justice in the civic life of a community. The Bandierai degli Uffizi represent, with their performances, in Italy and around the world, the active memory of a history and a territory. As the philosopher (Giambattista Vico) says: it is only with historical memory that we can identify the nimble and perilous gateways to the future. Visit the site
