A new museum pole in Rome brings together the Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia, connected by an underground gallery under the piazza. The exhibition designers and researchers are searching among the more than 14,000 items inventoried in the Palazzo Venezia storerooms for those that will make up the body of the new exhibition, which will be an interdisciplinary history of Italic genius, largely dedicated to the applied arts: ranging from the Madonna and Child by Zanino di Pietro (1429) to Garibaldi's shield (by Antonio Ximenes) that the Sicilian people gave to the hero in 1878 and which bears the names of all the 1000, and then armour, pottery, and silverware. A brand new and at the same time nobly ancient museum where, says Edith Gabrielli, the director, "Our tradition of art and craftsmanship from the fourteenth to the twentieth century is understood as the conceptual premise of Made in Italy". The Vittoriano, meanwhile, the great typewriter that towers next to the Campidoglio, where the Museo del Risorgimento continues to live, will be re-evaluated in its architectural qualities, revised in its furnishings and will have new exhibition areas in the wing overlooking the Imperial Forums. The terrace at the top of the building, which overlooks one of the most beautiful panoramas in the world, will also be opened to the public. Visit the site
