Cortona On The Move

Cortona On The Move was founded in 2011 with the goal of exploring the language of contemporary photography as a tool for understanding the present. Organized by the ONTHEMOVE Cultural Association, the festival has transformed Cortona into an international hub for documentary photography and visual storytelling, hosting photographers and projects each year that address the major themes of our time.

The city becomes an integral part of the festival experience: historic buildings, courtyards, fortresses, and urban spaces host exhibitions that engage with the architectural heritage and the Tuscan landscape, creating a widespread itinerary in which photography and the local area enhance one another. Alongside the exhibitions, the festival promotes meetings, educational activities, and opportunities for discussion dedicated to professionals, young photographers, and the general public.

Over the years, Cortona On The Move has built a network of national and international partnerships, helping to foster a visual culture attuned to social, political, and environmental changes. It is a project that continues to redefine the relationship between photography, places, and communities, making visual exploration a tool for knowledge and engagement.
