Giardini Naxos
A gap in the lava rock, a few kilometres from Naxos, Sicily, between Capo Schisò and Randazzo, lies a beautiful and secret park, located in the Alcantara valley where the Peloritani mountain range ends. This is an ancient, wet natural area that geologists date back 300,000 years. The gorges have prismatic structures of great elegance and in different shapes (stack, organ pipe, harp or rosette), the lava stones form fascinating patterns on the walls and accompany the slow or swirling, green flow of the river. From time to time, shady caves open up in the walls or the river stretches out into small pebbly beaches. Hiking and body rafting are possible and there is a wide range of educational experiences for children of all ages. On the edge of the park there are numerous certified agricultural and production activities producing fruit, oil and cheese and an extensive network of restaurants and wine cellars and beautiful villages to visit.
