Gibellina and the plots of the Mediterranean
It is an unprecedented and open interpretation of the cultural history of the Mediterranean, an ancient, honeycombed place, rich in history and civilisation transformed today by relentless necessity and wars into a convulsive route, travelled by human traffickers and risky to the point of death.
Instead, the museo di Gibellina reflects on how it could be, on hope and wealth, on the plots that have woven the life of this sea of ours. In its rooms, the museum collects costumes, jewellery, textiles, ceramics and art objects from peoples and cultures of the Mediterranean area: from Sicily to Egypt, from Spain to Tunisia. Strongly desired by Ludovico Corrao, the museum is the fruit of years of research and acquisitions, a place for meetings, debates, studies and seminars promoted by the Orestiadi Foundation.
