The National Archaeological Museums of Chieti
The National Archaeological Museums of Chieti preserve and promote a heritage that tells the story of Abruzzo and the peoples who inhabited it from the pre-Roman era to the Roman period. Through the collections of the “Villa Frigerj” Museo Archeologico Nazionale d'Abruzzo and the “La Civitella” Museo Archeologico Nazionale, the Institute promotes awareness of the region’s archaeological heritage, combining scientific research, conservation, and public outreach.
In addition to preserving the collections, the museums organize exhibitions, educational programs, and initiatives aimed at diverse audiences, fostering accessibility and cultural participation. As part of the network of cultural sites managed by the Abruzzo Regional Directorate of National Museums, they collaborate with institutions, research organizations, and local entities to highlight the archaeological heritage and strengthen the dialogue between museums, communities, and the landscape. Through an increasingly integrated and inclusive cultural offering, they help make this heritage a shared asset and a tool for knowledge, growth, and regional development.
