The Nicolis Museum: from technology to mechanics
It is a non-traditional museum strongly desired by Luciano Nicolis that tells the story of our modernity through different collections. At the centre one can find hundreds of cars and motorbikes of every model, the story of an object that has transformed our lives.
Baudrillard says in The System of Objects that the car "is the object par excellence of symbolic projection, it steals signs of speed everywhere from the aeroplane to the shark". Nicolis, an entrepreneur from Verona, has brought together all the signs of this change in a museum from engines to cameras, from bicycles to juke boxes, building a true compendium of the idea of modernity. The museum is an extended representation of his passion (the dream of a vira) for technology and mechanics cultivated since the beginning of his successful career in the field of waste management.
