The Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi
Erected for the Savoy family (Victor Amadeus II) by architect Filippo Juvara and completed in 1733, the Stupinigi Palace was declared a Unesco heritage site in 1997. It has a St. Andrew's cross plan and the dome of the central building is decorated with a large bronze stag, now a copy. The interior is a sequence of richly decorated rooms with Rococo-style furniture. The grand oval-shaped central hall contains, on the vault, a large fresco by the Valeriani brothers depicting the Triumphs of Diana. Napoleon Bonaparte stayed there shortly before his coronation and Pauline Bonaparte, the governor of Piedmont, also lived at Stupinigi, for whom a marble bath decorated with imperial eagles was installed.
