The Real Casina della Ficuzza
First a summer estate used for hunting parties, the Real Casina di Ficuzza later became the home for several years of Frederick of Bourbon III. It has a typical rectangular layout, as is often the case in Sicilian neoclassical palaces, and is topped by a sculptural group depicting Pan and Diana, the archaic figures of hunting and the forest. The interior is a succession of rooms, reception rooms and places of worship. The noble palace was reopened to the public in 2009 and contains a museum dedicated to the extraordinary forest that surrounds it and the history of the builders of this elegant structure.
