Ricetto di candelo Simone Emma

The Ricetto di Candelo is a medieval fortified village where one can walk in silence on the ancient stones of the cobbled streets. In ordinary times, it was a storehouse for wine and grain and was a refuge in times of war or danger where the farming populations retreated. Built in its entirety by local communities, with its square houses and herringbone stone streets, it has an area of about 13,000 square metres, a pentagonal shape and consists of two hundred buildings. It is one of the best preserved villages in Europe. In addition to a few houses, today it is made up of a measured and elegant series of small shops and craft workshops, and hosts various events related to agri-food and wine culture.
