The Rivoluzione delle Seppie
‘La rivoluzione delle Seppie’ (The Cuttlefish Revolution) is a project (Crossing) born from the collaboration between a group of young people from Calabria and some professors from the school of architecture at London Metropolitan University. The aim: to improve the cultural fabric of local Calabrian communities and study ideal architectural projects for smaller villages, but also to work in the empty spaces of the territories, transforming the shells of houses into inhabited places rich in relationships. The tool is English professors and students residing in Belmonte for different periods of the year, migrants with professional skills enlisted in the project and young Calabrian students from the University of the Mediterranean, all working together on the regeneration, material and ideal, of villages: inhabiting and reconstructing them. Starting from Belmonte, La rivoluzione delle Seppie is working on a specific operation but also on the development of an intervention methodology for all the villages with a high rate of abandonment that dot the inland areas of our country.
