The Vittoriale degli Italiani
A book of living stones. A complex of buildings and gardens, a small ideal city erected on the Lombard shore of Lake Garda. designed by Giancarlo Maroni and born from the unquenchable dream of a poet: Gabriele d'Annunzio. It represents the memory of the inimitable life of the poet-soldier and his many exploits, his masterpiece in stone. The large house, la Prioria, narrates the aesthetic taste of the time, a dense overlap of styles and objects. The park celebrates the union of poetry with nature and war heroism: with the prow of the Nave Puglia and the Mas 96 that inspired his motto Memento Audere Semper. Today, under the direction of Giordano Bruno Guerri, the Vittoriale has also become a centre for planning and promoting cultural initiatives (GardaLo) for the territory.
