Venice Design Week
In Venice, design is not just about the contemporary; it is also a reflection of a history shaped by materials, crafts, forms, and cultural exchanges. It was from this understanding that Venice Design Week was launched in 2010—a week dedicated to design and promoted by the cultural association Arte e Design Venezia, which brings exhibitions, talks, workshops, competitions, and guided tours to the lagoon city every October.
More than an event confined to a single space, Venice Design Week is a journey that winds through the city’s narrow streets and small squares, galleries, museums, artisan workshops, artists’ studios, and shops. It is here that established and emerging designers meet artisans, companies, architects, students, and the public, creating opportunities for dialogue about how design can engage with culture and everyday life.
Experiencing Venice Design Week thus means viewing Venice from a unique perspective, where tradition and contemporary innovation converge. Alongside exhibitions and talks, maps and itineraries allow visitors to discover workshops and creative spaces that remain active even beyond the festival days, revealing a city made up not only of monuments but also of knowledge, skills, and crafts that continue to shape it.
