3000 square metres aimed at enhancing the Italian printing heritage. The museum is the result of the desire to preserve the knowledge of the activities related to this art craft. Through the exhibits, it tells the story of its birth and evolution, which revolutionised human communication for 500 years. The tour winds its way through the two main buildings, the church and the guest quarters of the former Canapificio, in a sequence of stations that tell the story of the production phases of a printed page through the tools used in the centuries-long history of movable type printing, from Gutenberg to the 1970s. The visit starts in the first room, the Typeface Factory, and then moves on to the room on the first floor dedicated to the Typeface Project and Wood Alphabets. Tipoteca is not only a museum, but also an archive, library, print shop, gallery and auditorium. Through tours, workshops, temporary exhibitions and meetings, Tipoteca stimulates dialogue between past and present and encourages research into the cultural revolution that has marked the last five centuries: printing.
