Italian posters: the Salce collection
Treviso gives a permanent home to the 25,000 posters that the collector Nando Salce acquired up to 1962, and to those that have enriched the collection in more recent years. Today, the collection, catalogued and digitised, is the rich reservoir of major thematic exhibitions (Fashion and Advertising, Dante the Pop Icon, Wheel to Wheel, Stories of Bikes, Posters and Champions, Economic Boom and Advertising) with an excellent public success and an intense research activity (in its second location the Complesso di San Gaetano) that is specialising in research on these topics, including on the extremely delicate subject of paper restoration. The deconsecrated church of Santa Margherita hosts the exhibitions and with its Gothic heights also allows the display of larger posters.
