The mask and its history
It is a family history that of the Sartori mask museum. Conceived and desired by Hamlet the sculptor and great mask-maker and developed by his son Donato, it tells the story of their productions but also a significant piece of the history of civilisation (all mankind has made use of the mask) and theatre, with particular emphasis on the commedia dell'arte, which comes to life from the mask.
The museum is housed in the 18th-century Villa Trevisian Savioli made available by the municipality. It exhibits the precious Sartori collection, and its activities range from research on the mask, in collaboration with renowned research centres, to training and workshop activities aimed at young actors but also at local schoolchildren.
