Trame Sonore
Chamber music enters art venues and transforms them into spaces for listening. Since 2013, Trame Sonore has brought musicians from around the world to the city every year, creating a citywide festival that brings music into dialogue with palaces, churches, museums, and other historic sites in Mantua.
For five days, concerts, themed tours, talks, and workshops take place throughout the city, creating a direct connection between music, art, and architecture. Historic venues become part of the musical experience: listening to a quartet at the Palazzo Ducale, the Palazzo Te, or the Rotonda di San Lorenzo means encountering Mantua’s works of art and spaces from a different perspective, guided by their acoustics and history.
The festival thus invites residents and visitors alike to rediscover Mantua through listening, transforming its cultural heritage into a living, shared space. The Renaissance city does not merely serve as a backdrop for the concerts but becomes part of the music itself, in a continuous interplay between the tangible heritage of its monuments and the intangible heritage of musical performance.
Trame Sonore is therefore an original way to experience the city: following the music to discover Mantua, letting its places, its architecture, and its silences become part of the sonic narrative.
