Cascina Monluè: the court of the common good
The social enterprise Cascina Monluè was born in 2019 from the desire to develop the territory of a district of Milan with an innovative, diversified and environmentally sustainable proposal starting from the complete renovation of the Monluè hamlet.
The starting point is therefore to give back to the territory a place of historical and artistic value of great significance for the past and recent history of the city of Milan to make it a space for meeting, reception, recreation, culture, work, emancipation and growth for all: the court of the common good. The courtyard will host activities for the employment of people at risk of social marginalisation, a guesthouse for accessible tourism, residential reception services and accompaniment to independent living for people with disabilities, bar and restaurant services, and aggregative and cultural activities open to citizens. The courtyard of the common good is an ambitious urban regeneration and territorial development project that stems from the idea that the relationship between territorial specificity, needs and physical places can be articulated in at least four paradigms of spaces understood as: venues for services (social, educational, cultural, housing) and territorial social garrisons, community-generating places, opportunities for new growth opportunities for the territory relying on the hybridisation of functions and, above all, reference points and a reason for a sense of belonging.
