Divago - Via del Campo superstar

Divago is a contemporary art festival conceived by the art curating collective Mixta and realised by the Cultural Association ETS Wanda. It takes place every two years in the urban space of Genoa's old Jewish ghetto, which at the centre has the famous Via del Campo. It realises participatory art projects in dialogue with local communities and young contemporary artists, and promotes meetings and public lectures on socio-cultural issues. The artists reside for ten days in the neighbourhood and then realise works in the specific context they have seen and experienced. The biennial festival aims to bring a new creative ferment to Genoa and helps involve the city's young people.
The events are free of charge and include an open-air exhibition of the art projects and guided tours of the various installations. The festival is the conclusion of an intense on-site work that always sees the collaboration of several emerging contemporary artists (selected through a national open call) with the many protagonists in the area, with the local communities and with the festival's organisational team. The idea is to develop art in close interaction with the realities of the territory. In the words of the organisers, "this is not just an exhibition, it is a shot in the arm from below to regenerate the neighbourhood through culture and dialogue".
