Monumenti Aperti
Monumenti Aperti is a national project aimed at promoting cultural heritage, sponsored by Imago Mundi OdV, which since 1997 has involved communities, schools, and institutions in opening up and telling the stories of often little-known places across Sardinia. Through a model based on civic participation, the initiative invites citizens to take a leading role in discovering and sharing their cultural heritage.
Each edition involves dozens of municipalities and thousands of volunteers, with a central role entrusted to students and the younger generations, who are trained to guide the public in discovering monuments, historic sites, and places that define local identity. Heritage thus becomes an opportunity for learning, connection, and community-building, transcending the scope of a simple visit to become a collective experience.
Over the years, Monumenti Aperti has developed a widespread model of cultural citizenship capable of connecting people, territories, and local memories. Its strength lies in its ability to make heritage a shared resource experienced and told by the communities that inhabit it, promoting a culture of care and participation.
